DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

During the 10 years spanning 2001 to 2011 Mark Crofton Bell transposed images from the newspaper into watercolour paintings, maintaining the scale and colour of the source material as best he could. The above images are a cross-section of some of the paintings he did during this time. The title is a reference to the date of the newspaper where the source image was found, which is also the date it was painted.

MARK CROFTON BELL did his MA at Chelsea College in London, UK in 2009. He lives in Toronto and is represented by General Hardware Contemporary.
